Tracing the transition years
Doyle traces the transition years between Old South and New South in Atlanta, Nashville, Charleston and Mobile between 1860 and 1910. Wonderful compilation of both quantitative and qualitative sources; the sources from newspapers during the time act like time capsules into the period. The newspaper sources combined with some photographs and maps make Doyle's book a well-researched place for students of Southern history and culture to enjoy an insightful glimpse into particular loci in the south. No life like it : military wives in Canada
Published in Unknown Binding by J. Lorimer ()
Author: Deborah Harrison
Average review score:

great book for all Canadian military wives
No Life Like It: Military Wives in Canada This was an excellent book for wives for whom there is very little info available. It lets you know you are not alone and others feel the same way as you do. Great support for a difficult and often unnoticed job well done. It made me laugh, cry and get good and angry. Then came the acceptance of the whole life. Excellent book. Still available on Canadian bases.

No Time for Dying,
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (March, 1973)
Author: Eddie, Harrison
Average review score:

Compelling
Although I knew the outcome of this book prior to reading it, because I know the author, Eddie Harrison, personally. I was still amazed by the trials and tribulations that the author had to endure.

Every time he lost an appeal, my heart sank, and I almost expected him (the author) to give up hope. However, he did not, and that is why this book is so compelling. To me, this book is a testimonial of the power of faith. The book causes you to take inventory of your life, and compared to what the author had to endure, puts our own personal trials into perspective.

The author exposes the frightening treatment of young men, especially young black men, involved in the criminal justice system, out into the open.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. Especially to those who have direct contact with a young man between the ages of 13 and 21.

The Not So Wicked Stepmother, A Book for Children and Adults
Published in Paperback by L.A. Venable Publishing (July, 1999)
Authors: Leslie Allgood Venable, Julie M. Harrison, and Leslie Allgood Venable

Sympathy for the Devil!
I am a step-mother who is the luckiest woman on earth! I enjoy true love with my step-daughter, but have always been aware of the many pitfalls of being a step-parent. This book, The Not So Wicked Stepmother, A Book for Children and Adults, addresses all the most immediate reactions of a child facing the upheaval of "two" homes, parental dating, and how everything got so "weird". It helps that the author herself has literal experience with the dynamic, and it shows. The books shows the harshest changes a divorce can create - Dad moving out, the "new" home which must be created for him to share with his children, and all the feelings of anxiety that can visit children; how to sleep at night in a strange place, belongings split between two residences, etc. When Dad starts to explore a new social life with female companions, each step is explored in the most heartfelt, and comic, way. There is a very realistic ending that shows happiness and acceptance to new life and new loves.

Most children react suspiciously to strangers these days, none the least of which, may actually become a part of your family! I would recommend this book for Dad's to read to their children BEFORE the dating process has begun, and if possible, before leaving the home they share with their children. My husband and I searched high and low for a book as entertaining, realistic and sympathetic to new beginnings as this one, and wish we had found it sooner. The illustrations will keep your children's attention even when the text hits uncomfortably close to home. My step-daughter was seven when she got this book and it is still one of her favorites. She loves me to read it to her before bedtime, and laughs at the antics of the daughters in the story. I sincerely hope the author writes additional books exploring the subject. This book is worth your purchase - I doubt you will be disappointed.

Notables of Harrison County, Ohio (Studies in Local and Institutional History)
Published in Hardcover by Edwin Mellen Press (January, 2000)
Author: Erving E. Beauregard

Notables of Harrison County, Ohio
I am a native of Harrison County and lived there until college. I was absolutely amazed and impressed with the Notables of Harrison County, Ohio. Many of the families are familiar to me, but I had no idea of their ancestors' accomplishment. I found it easy to read about one or two people at a sitting. I had no idea of the international impact people from such a small county could have. Two people have mountains named for them. The inventor of tire rims lived in Cadiz. There were many black people in the area as a result of the underground railroad. A small newspaper editor took on the fight for reclaimation after strip mining began. I never realized there was a town called Tappan -- what happened to it? Nor that there were once colleges in Hopedale and Scio. It was really an informative book which I enjoyed immensely.

An impressive legal issues survey.
When might a literary or artistic work be legally defined aspornographic and without social value? In the 1930s Joyce's Ulyssesreceived such a definition by the Supreme Court: today it is a recognized work of art. This surveys thirteen obscenity and pornography decisions spanning over 40 years, making for an excellent legal reference to the process of defining pornography. An impressive compendium and highly recommended for personal, professional, and academic library collections.

Official Visit
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (July, 2002)
Author: Ben Harrison
Average review score:

A Must Read for Parents & Players
Ben Harrison does a great job of explaining how "official visits" to colleges work during the recruiting process. He offers insights into how and what he might have done differently as well as "do's and dont's" during the process. I couldn't put it down, and in fact, finished it cover to cover within a few hours. I have even found myself picking it up since to re-read passages. Overall, we are now much better equipped to embark on our first Official Visit this fall. Thanks for sharing Ben!

Opening the Seven Seals of Revelation : The Methodology of Decrypting Hidden Messages in the Bible (2nd Edition Revised)
Published in Spiral-bound by Sanctuary of Sophia Publishing (01 April, 2000)
Author: Dr. Rebecca S. Harrison
Average review score:

Revelation!
WOW! This is truly an inspired journey into the most enigmatic book in the Bible! "Opening the Seven Seals of Revelation: The Methodology of Decrypting Hidden Messages in the Bible" may be the most remarkable REVELATION about our EArthly human existence since learning the EArth is not flat. The evidence provides startling eye opening revelations every human being must consider with the now undeniable return of NASA's planet 'X' and the Vatican's 2000 meeting with Zachariah Sitchin. The mathematical, analytical, and logical methodology employed by the author for decrypting these hidden messages are profound, yet simple. An inside look into the writings of John the Beloved and the prophetic language of the Gods, this book is a definite culture shock for everyone who thought those old Bible stories were a bunch of myths, and vampires really don't exist. I will read this again and again and recommend this historic reference to every church, university, library, and family seeking a deeper understanding into the symbolic language of the Bible, the book of Revelation, and the universe around us. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing us he does not exist! You really should read this book.
